Following the Announcement of the Hellenic Bank Association on 19 May 2020, and in line with its ongoing commitment to curb the spread of COVID-19, National Bank of Greece, as a member of the HBA, will maintain, through to Thursday 31 December 2020, the maximum limit of €50 for contactless card payments without needing to enter a PIN.
This change is temporary and it was introduced on 30 March 2020, due till Sunday 31 May 2020, before being initially extended until the 30th of September. The measure concerns contactless card payments, thus reducing the need of shoppers to physically hand over their debit, credit or prepaid card to the cashier and touch the POS terminal to enter the PIN.
- up to €50 the payment can be performed without entering the PIN (*).
- over €50, the PIN number is required for the transaction to be completed.
In any case, your much needed attention to the safe storage of your card is reminded.
(*) For the financial security of your transaction, you may nevertheless be asked to enter your PIN for transactions equal to or less than €50
