Following the Announcement of the Hellenic Bank Association on 26 March 2020, and in line with its ongoing commitment to curb the spread of COVID-19, National Bank of Greece, as a member of the HBA, will maintain, through to Wednesday 30 September 2020, the maximum limit of €50 for contactless card payments without needing to enter a PIN.
This change is temporary and was initially introduced on 30 March 2020 for contactless card payments, thus reducing the need of shoppers to physically hand over their debit, credit or prepaid card to the cashier and touch the POS terminal to enter the PIN.
- up to €50 the payment can be performed without entering the PIN (*).
- over €50 the PIN number is required.
(*) For your financial security you may nevertheless be asked to enter your PIN for transactions equal to or less than €50
