Report on Events 9 Events, 553 participations, total duration 20 hours

8 online events for the participants of the 13th Innovation & Technology Competition and 1 event which was held live, were concluded with great success.

Our first event on social entrepreneurship was launched in October, for the 5th consecutive year, and was organized jointly with HIGGS |Higher Incubator Giving Growth & Sustainability.

In total, 33 teams were invited to participate and the key component of their proposals was social entrepreneurship. Women were running 30% of the teams, while 42% of them came from outside Athens. 80 people participated, while representatives of the Panteion University, the Onassis Foundation and Metavallon VC — all partners of NBG Business Seeds program — also took part in the event.

We continued in November with the 3rd event on information technology, with the participation of Found.ation (a partner of EIT Digital in Greece), as well as executives from NBG's Digital Transformation Division and Digital Business Banking.

In total, 85 teams were invited to participate, the key proposal focus being entrepreneurship in the sphere of technology.  Women were running 23.5% of the teams, while 34% of them came from outside Athens. The event was attended by 70 people, while executives of OTE, Metavallon VC and other partner funds, as well as Angel Investors for startups also took part in it.

The 3rd Fintech event with the participation of Mastercard, Epsilon Net Group, as well as executives of NBG's Digital Transformation Division and Digital Business Banking, was also held in November and was concluded with great success. In total, 34 teams were invited to participate, the key proposal focus being Fintech. Women were running 11.7% of the teams, while 21% of them came from outside Athens. 56 people attended the event, while executives of ΟΤΕ, Metavallon VC and partner funds, as well as Angel investors for startups, also took part in it.

We also organized the 5th event focusing on bringing people together, networking and mentoring in the sphere of Health with the participation of the National Documentation Center (EKT) — the EIT Health hub in Greece — Bayer Hellas and Elpen. A total of 51 teams were invited to participate, and the key component of their proposals was entrepreneurship in the field of Health. The highest percentage (37%) attended this event, teams were led by women, while 37% of the teams came from outside Athens. 80 people attended the event, while executives of partner funds and Angel Investors for startups also took part in it.

For the first time, we hosted in December the 1st Manufactoring Workshop in collaboration with EIT Manufacturing in Greece. A total of 68 teams were invited to participate, and the key component of their proposals was entrepreneurship in the field Manufacturing. The highest percentage (56%) of teams that came from outside Athens attended this event, while female-led teams reached 24%, the same percentage as the total participation of female-led teams in the 13th Innovation & Technology Competition. 35 people attended the event, while executives of partner funds and Angel Investors also took part in it.

The 5th Workshop which followed focused on innovative entrepreneurship in the field of Energy and the Environment and was organized in collaboration with the KiNNO Innovation Intermediaries and with the participation of executives of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO).

In total, 53 teams were invited to participate, whose proposals had a common component in the field of Energy and the Environment. Women were running 17% of the teams, while 36% of them came from outside Athens. 42 people attended the event, while executives from OTE and partner funds also took part in it.

On 7.12.2022, the 5th Workshop focusing on innovative entrepreneurship in the field of Tourism was held, in collaboration with the CapsuleT Travel & Hospitality Accelerator of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels. A total of 39 teams were invited to participate, and the key component of their proposals was entrepreneurship in the field of Tourism.

33% of the proposals were led by women and 46.8% of such proposals came from outside Athens. 30 people attended the event, while winners of the 4th round of the CapsuleT accelerator shared their top tips for achieving success.

We bid farewell to 2022 with the 3rd event titled "Women's entrepreneurship in the spotlight" which has held live at the events hall in NBG’s building at Pireos st.

The event was opened by Ms Fotini Ioannou, NBG's General Manager Legacy Portfolio & Specialized Asset Solutions, who noted in her remarks that: “for the first time in Greece we provided, in collaboration with the European Investment Bank, targeted support to SMEs and MidCap Businesses that are either managed or owned and managed by women on a majority basis. In record time, NBG channelled liquidity at very favorable terms, amounting to €25 millions, to eligible businesses, highlighting its tangible interest on supporting women entrepreneurship. In addition, an increase in the program’s budget in the coming period is planned”.

Thereafter, Ms Antigoni Lymperopoulou, CEO of the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (HDBI), Ms Sonia Mousavere, Head of Communications and PR, Bayer Hellas, Ms Litsa Panagiotopoulou, CEO of E.VI.A. Intelligent Performance and Chair of the Education, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Committee of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, Ms Mylaidi Stoumpou, Sr Regional Director, Microsoft, Chair of the Women in Business (WIB) Committee of the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, took the floor. The teams of the 13th Innovation & Technology Competition presented their innovative ideas, and then a discussion and mentoring ensued.

A total of 43 teams led by women coming from Athens were invited to participate, reached 24%, the same percentage as the total participation of female-led teams in the 13th Innovation & Technology Competition.

The event was attended by 70 people, representing the Uni.Fund, The peoples Trust, the Business Accelerator of the “Archimedes” Center, the Greek e-Commerce Association (GR.EC.A), the Piraeus Chamber of Small & Medium Industries, the Municipality of Piraeus, as well as women organizations such as Hellinides, Women On Top, Womentors, Lean in, and journalists from the field.

The overall participation rate of women-led teams in the 13th Innovation & Technology Competition reached 24%

This year's Events were completed with the 5th event in the field of Culture in cooperation with the Onassis Foundation Culture Seeds 2023 was an initiative of Smart Attica ΕDIH. Keynote speakers were Cindy Strobach and Mike Vanis from Unit Lab. A total of 59 teams were invited to participate, and the key component of their proposals was entrepreneurship in the field Culture.

25% of the proposals were led by women and 51% of the proposals came from outside Athens. 90 people attended the event, while executives from The People’s Trust and the Panteion University also took part in it and presented their initiatives and the growth opportunities they are offering to the world of startups .

The aim of the events is to meet, network and guide the participants of the Innovation & Technology Competition. We look forward to seeing you again at the 14th Innovation & Technology Competition of the NBG Business Seeds program.
