The events run by NBG Business Seeds at the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair were concluded successfully and well attended.
On Friday 5 September, we organized, in the event hall of Walk AUTh Innovation Accelerator, an insight and networking event for the innovation teams of the university. Mr. George Nikolaou, Strategy Analyst in the Business Innovation Development Subdivision, presented to the audience the 16th Innovation & Technology Competition, and then a constructive discussion followed on issues related to the financing of startup entrepreneurship.
On Saturday 6 September, the event ESG 3.0: Challenges and Opportunities was hosted at the pavilion of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Through the 4 panels of the event, 13 speakers discussed topics related to Corporate Governance & Ethics, and emphasized the importance of the Social Responsibility & Inclusion. The importance of protecting the environment and the challenges and opportunities created for entrepreneurship were also discussed. The event concluded with the viewpoints of Dr. Spyros Arsenis, Head of NBG Business Innovation Development, and Mr. Haris Lambropoulos, President of the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments. The event was held as part of Smart Attica EDIH and was co-financed by the European Union. Also, on the same day, Dr. Spyros Arsenis participated in the panel organized by ACCI on “Innovation through Synergies: Connecting Large Enterprises with Research and Startups”, where, among other things, the importance of connecting academic research with the market and the role of university spinoffs in the transfer of technology outside research centers were discussed.
The second event, Women and Leadership 4.0, was held on Saturday 13 September in the event hall of the Alexander Innovation Zone. Welcome speeches were given by Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, Deputy Minister of Development responsible for Research and Innovation, while he also participated in the first panel on “Women and Leadership in Greece 2025”. The audience had the opportunity to watch the 10 speakers in the 4 panels discuss issues related to the position of women in leadership of the business world, the academic and research sector, the political stage and innovative entrepreneurship. Ms. Evi Tsoukala, Senior Manager of NBG Corporate Governance, participated in the panel “Corporate and institutional initiatives aiming at enhancing women's entrepreneurship”, while Dr. Spyros Arsenis, Head of NBG Business Innovation Development, coordinated the panel. The event concluded with the common conclusion that entrepreneurship has no gender, while the common goal of all involved bodies remains the emergence of workplaces, where leadership will be associated with opportunities, development, and progress, within a culture that does not treat women as a minority.
