Report on “Innovation Crete 7.0 – Reimagining The Future”
The 7th annual conference on “Innovation Crete 7.0 – Reimagining The Future”, held in Crete, came to a successful conclusion.The conference was held on Wednesday 25 February at the Chania Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with 21 speakers in 3 panels. It was co-organized by NBG Business Seeds, Smart Attica ΕDIH, the Prefecture of Crete, the Hellenic Mediterranean University, the Chania Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the PRAXI Network of the Foundation for Research & Technology-Hellas, the HDBI, Uni.fund, Metallon, L-Stone Capital, the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, and Bayer Hellas, under the auspices of the Prefecture of Crete. For the seventh year, the conference mapped out innovation in Crete focusing on AI, by answering key questions, such as: How does the advent of AI affect research and entrepreneurship? What are the initiatives of institutional bodies for the integration of AI?
In Chania, the event was opened with welcome speeches by Mrs. Dora Kyriakaki, President of Commerce at the Chania Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Athanasios Malamos Vice-Rector of Research and Innovation, LAMET, Mr. Spyros Balantinos Representative of the Prefecture of Crete, and Mr. Giorgos Perakis, NBG's Regional Manager for Crete.
On Friday 21 February, members of the NBG Business Seeds team together with counterparts of the partner funds, participated in the 32nd Open Coffee Heraklion, which was held at Bizrupt. During the event, issues related to funding and supporting innovation were discussed and attendees had an excellent opportunity to network.
During their stay in Crete, members of NBG Business Seeds and Bayer Hellas, as well members of the partner funds, Uni.fund, Metavallon, L-Stone, Venture Friends, Investing For Purpose, and Genesis Ventures, visited the research laboratories of the Hellenic Mediterranean University. Οn Wednesday 25 February, at Chania they visited the Telecommunications and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratories, PulseMind, Flexplorer, and Argument Theory of the Department of Electronic Engineering. On Thursday 20 February, they visited in Rethymno the laboratories of Nuclear Fusion, Secondary Sources of High Power Laser-Plasma Radiation and Biomedical Applications of Audiovisual Laser & Materials, Plasma-Laser Simulations, Machining and Manufacturing and the Plasma Laboratory of High Power Power Pulse Devices. Furthermore, on Friday 21 February, they visited in Heraklion, the laboratories of Hybrid Multilevel Power Converter with pairs of arms that operate complementarily, Control Systems and Robotics CSRL, Microbial Biostimulators, Artificial Intelligence and Systems Engineering, Utilization of Natural Resources and Agricultural Engineering, Biotechnological Applications and Plant Protection, Palpable, and the Laboratory of Energy Systems Synthesis.
