NBG Business Seeds welcomed the students of the Masters Program in Fintech run by the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA)
We were delighted to welcome on Tuesday, September 9, at 18:00 in NBG’s Karatzas Amphitheater the postgraduate students of the Fintech postgraduate program of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). The purpose of the students' visit was to attend the presentation of the Bank's Innovation & Digital Partnerships Division on the theme of new payment systems, current trends in FinTech, and integration of AI in banking operations.
The event was opened by Spyros Arsenis, Head of NBG Business Innovation Development, while on behalf of the NKUA welcome speeches were also given by Aristides Samitas, Vice Rector of Finance and Development and Dimitrios Kenourgios, Professor of Finance and Deputy Chair of the Department of Economics.
Thereafter, George Nikolaou, Strategy Analyst in NBG's Business Innovation Development Subdivision, presented the Business Seeds program and the way NBG supports Greek startups and the innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem. At the same time, the 16th Innovation and Technology Competition was presented, as the proposal submission period is currently running through to October 15, 2025.
Last, Giannis Argyriou, Head of NBG's New Digital Partnerships Development Subdivision, in his stimulating presentation drew attention to key Fintech milestones such as the development of IRIS Instant Payments, the Merchant Insights tool for business data analysis, as well as NBG's strategic partnership with EpsilonNet.
In addition, the bank's significant investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI) aiming at enhancing security and automated operations was noted.
The event concluded with the exchange of views regarding the future and the challenges posed by the digital economy.
