ENNOIA Initiative

Empowering Households in their Financial Decision-Making

As part of its social strategy and with a focus on financial literacy, NBG, in partnership with Accenture, Professor Michael Haliassos, and the non-profit organization Komvos – Node, are launching the ENNOIA Initiative.

The goal of this multidisciplinary and open initiative is to support Greek households by enhancing their knowledge and ability to make sound financial decisions, effectively manage their finances, and ensure their financial resilience and prosperity

In this way, the initiative can make a significant contribution to strengthening the country's overall economic stability and growth, creating a more sustainable, secure and inclusive economic environment for all.

ENNOIA is funded exclusively by NBG and is structured around 3 main pillars:

Research Hub

Supporting scientific research on issues related to household financial empowerment and financial inclusion.

Digital Hub

Fostering entrepreneurship and the development of innovative products, services and tools to help households in financial education and sound economic decision-making.

Community Hub

Promoting the transfer of knowledge and solutions related to financial education and household financial decisions through ENNOIA's website, conferences, and other information actions.

The ENNOIA Initiative in detail

Scientific research on topics related to household financial empowerment and financial inclusion is being promoted. Specifically, a Research Committee chaired by Professor Michael Haliassos, with the participation of representatives of the international academic community, as well as executives of National Bank of Greece and Accenture, announces, commissions and evaluates relevant scientific research. In the future, the results of such studies will be communicated and can contribute to the development of innovative solutions as described below.

Entrepreneurship and innovative products, services and tools (e.g. apps) are being promoted to help households in financial education and sound economic decision-making. The 16th Innovation and Technology Competition is underway offering up to five Special Financial Literacy Awards for Empowering Households in their Financial Decision-Making totaling up to €10,000.

The transfer of knowledge and solutions related to financial education and household financial decisions are being promoted through ENNOIA's dedicated website, conferences for researchers and other stakeholders, as well as other awareness enhancing actions. The basis of this pillar will be formed mainly by the results of the actions of the pillars of research and innovation, with a view to making a significant positive impact in the community.
