George Tagaris
Assistant General Manager Group Financial Risk Management
George Tagaris was appointed Assistant General Manager Group Financial Risk Management in October 2023.
He joined NBG in 2007 at the Group Risk Management. He was appointed Head of Capital Analysis & Supervisory Reporting Subdivision in 2011 and from 2012 to 2013 he was Acting Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of NBG Bank Malta Ltd. From 2014 to 2023 he was Head of the Group Credit Risk Control Division.
He began his professional career in London in 2002 at ECGD (Export Credit Guarantee Department), United Kingdom’s export credit agency. Upon returning to Greece, he joined Citibank in the Retail Banking Credit Division, and from 2005 to 2007 he served as Head of the implementation program of the “Basel II” supervisory framework at Piraeus Bank Group.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics from the University of Athens, as well as a Master of Science (MSc) in Operational Research from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
