Updating of personal details with NBG via eGov-KYC

National Bank of Greece, in line with the new eGov-KYC "Know Your Customer-Introduce yourselves" interconnection service, allows you to update or change your personal details at the Bank by drawing them directly from the government service, without having to upload documents.

For the time being via eGov-KYC you can update your income, contact, address and professional activity details.

The new procedure is currently carried out only via NBG's Internet Banking and is addressed to individuals and sole proprietorships who are registered Internet Banking users and have activated the one-time password text message service (OTP) on the mobile phone number they have registered with the Bank.

Step 1

Go to your Profile in Internet Banking and click on “Update details!” on the relevant banner in gov.gr. Then enter your TAXISNET codes in order to be redirected to eGov-KYC.

 Step 2

Check the categories of details you wish to update and, if you agree, give your consent to eGov-KYC for the Bank to access the categories of personal data and return to Internet Banking.

Attention: In order to proceed with the process of updating details through gov.gr, you must have a mobile phone registered and confirmed at the National Notification Center (NNC).

Step 3

At this point all the categories of details obtained from gov.gr (e.g. identification data, income data, contact details), as well as detailed information by category, will be displayed.

Step 4

If you agree with the details, confirm them by entering an OTP in order to complete the process of updating your details with the Bank.

If you don't agree with all details, you can go back to a previous step and deselect the category in question.

Step 5

Now, you can see the personal details you have confirmed – updated through gov.gr, and can save and print them in a pdf file.

Confirming/Updating your personal details via eGov-KYC

Why should I confirm/update my personal details?

Pursuant to applicable legislation, as set out in Law 4557/2018 and Banking and Credit Committee Decision 281/2009, as applicable from time to time, financial institutions are under obligation to apply due diligence measures that include, inter alia, certification and verification of customers' identity and the creation of their financial/banking profile on the basis of documents, data or information from a reliable and independent source, including any available electronic identification means.

Do I have to confirm/update my personal details through eGov-KYC?

No. This service is available if you wish to confirm/update your personal details. Please note that customer data verification is mandatory for all banks. Therefore, if you do not wish to use this service, this obligation will have to be met via other NBG channels (i.e. Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Branch Network).

What if I don’t confirm/update my personal details?

Customer data verification is mandatory for all banks under the applicable statutory framework. We may ask you to confirm/update some of your personal details, if they haven’t already been confirmed or are out of date, before you can apply to acquire one of our products available via Internet Banking/Mobile Banking (such as credit cards, express personal loan, etc.). Note that the said obligation concerns acquiring products available via Internet Banking/Mobile Banking, as well as via the Branch Network.

Which details can I confirm/update via eGov-KYC?

For the time being via eGov-KYC you can confirm/update your income, contact and professional activity details.

Why can’t I update my ID particulars through eGov-KYC?

At this stage and until a relevant BoG Decision is taken, it's not possible to update your ID particulars through eGov-KYC. So, if your ID particulars have changed, you need to visit any NBG branch and submit your latest legalization document.

Why do my ID particulars appear at the user verification step?

Your ID particulars appear at the verification step because they have been retrieved from eGov-KYC, and you are informed that your authentication is based on these details so you can move on to the next steps and confirm/update your particulars.

How can I find out if my personal details need to be confirmed/updated?

Go to your Profile in Internet or Mobile Banking and check if your personal details need to be confirmed/updated. If any of your personal details are flagged “Needs updating”, you can confirm/update them either through eGov-KYC or by uploading the relevant verification document.

How many days are needed for my details to appear as updated through eGov-KYC or by uploading the relevant documents?

Personal details that are updated on an automatic basis will appear the next time you login to Internet or Mobile Banking. Details which require checking before updating will appear as soon as the check is completed and a relevant message is displayed.
