Adding your card for Apple Pay. Simple and quick set up.

 

iPhone:

  • In the Wallet app, tap the Add button in the upper-right corner.
  • Enter your card verification code.
  • Accept the terms & conditions of the service.-
  • Enter the OTP which you’ll receive on your phone.

Or, select “Add a different card,” and use your iPhone camera to scan the card information.

 

Apple Watch:

  • On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app.
  • Tap “Wallet & Apple Pay” and select “Add credit or debit card”.
  • Enter your card verification code.
  • Accept the terms & conditions of the service.
  • Enter the OTP which you’ll receive on your phone.

Or, select “Add a different card,” and use your iPhone camera to scan the card information.

​1. Does it cost extra to use the service?

No. NBG does not charge its customers for registering and using their NBG cards with Apple Pay.
 
2. How are my payments carried out securely?
 
Apple Pay provides a unique electronic code, or token, for your card, and it’s only by using this token that a transaction can be carried out via your device. The token replaces the 16-digit number of your card and accordingly it’s not stored by your device or on Apple's servers, and isn't shared with retailers. Also, Apple Pay doesn’t retain any information on your payments that can be linked with you, thus ensuring the privacy and security of all your shopping.
 
3. Which NBG cards can I add to Apple Pay?
 
You can add all your NBG Visa and Mastercard® debit and prepaid cards.

5. How many cards can I add to Apple Pay?
 
  • You can add up to 12 different cards to your iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and Apple Watch Series 3, 4, 5 & 6
  • and up to 8 cards to other devices.
The same card can be entered on different devices.

1. How to add a card to your Apple Wallet.

Add your cards to your iPhone following a few easy steps:

1. Open the Wallet app.

2. Tap the + button in the upper-right corner, then tap “Continue”.

3. Choose NBG from the list.

4. Position iPhone so that your card appears in the frame or enter the card details manually.

5. Accept the terms of NBG.

6. The Bank now will verify your card details.

7. Enter the OTP which you’ll receive via SMS or Viber on the mobile phone number you've designated to the Bank.

That's it! Your card has been added to Apple Pay!

Add your cards to your Apple Watch following a few easy steps:

1. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

2. Tap “Wallet & Apple Pay” then select “Add a credit or debit card”.

3. Type your card verification code.

4. Accept the terms of NBG.

5. Enter the OTP which you’ll receive via SMS or Viber on the mobile phone number you've designated to the Bank.

Or, select “Add a different card,” and use your iPhone camera to scan the card information.

 

2. I haven't yet received my card. Can I add it to Apple Pay before I get it?

No. In order to enter a card for Apple Pay you must have your plastic card handy (if this is a physical card) or have all your card details (if this is virtual card). Don’t forget that your card needs to be activated.

3. I can’t add my card to Apply Pay. What should I do?

If you're not able to complete the registration process for the card on Apple Pay, or you haven't received an OTP via Viber or SMS, or for some reason the OTP has expired before you can enter it, you should delete the card from Apple Pay and repeat the process.

4. How can I remove a card from Apple Pay?

If you want to, you can remove a card from Apple Pay, by following the steps here.

2. Can I view my recent payments in Apple Pay?
 
Yes. You can see the last 10 payments made using Apple Pay on that specific device.
 
3. What happens if I don’t have an Internet connection, can I still make a contactless payment at a physical store with Apple Pay?
 
Yes. You don’t need an internet connection to make a payment.
 
4. How do I know that my payment is completed?
 
Hold the top of your device near the contactless reader. After your transaction is completed successfully the message “Done” will appear on the display. This message is also displayed on the POS and on the receipt issued.
 
5. I’ve added more than one cards to Apple Pay. How do I select the card I want to use?
 
The first card that you added to Apple Pay is your default card. If you want to switch to another card use these steps.
 
6. Why is the card number on the POS receipt different from the card number I’ve added to Apple Pay?
 
To keep transactions secure, a token is generated by Apple and printed on the POS receipt. It is only by using the said token that a transaction can be carried out via your device.
 
7. What about my card benefits. Do these still apply when I make a payment using Apple Pay?
 
Yes. If you're getting benefits with your NBG card or you participate in the go4more reward program, you'll still be eligible to receive these whenever you make a purchase using Apple Pay.
 
8. Does a payment limit apply to Apple Pay?
 
No. The same contractual applicable transaction limits of the card you use apply.

​1. How can I lock Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is locked when the device is locked. To unlock Apple Pay your device passcode, Touch ID or Face ID is required. Your Apple Watch locks automatically when you're not wearing it and remains locked until your iPhone is unlocked using your passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.
 
2. What if my physical card added to Apple Pay is lost or stolen? What should I do?
 
You can report a theft or loss via NBG Mobile Banking. Or, call us at our Customer Service at 210 4848484. Your plastic card will be replaced and then, after you receive and activate the new card, Apple Pay is automatically updated without requiring any further action from you.
 
3. What if my iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch is lost or stolen?

4. What happens when I replace or update my device?
 
If you replace your device or make a software update, you’ll need to re-add your cards to Apple Pay Wallet. Make sure you remove the card/ cards from Apple Pay before you replace your device.
