Verified by VISA is an authentication service for cardholders, which provides additional protection when making online purchases with certified online stores.

NBG offers the Verified by Visa service to its Visa cardholders free of charge.

Online stores participating in the service, display the Verified by Visa logo on their website.

  • How you will register for this service
    • Select  "REGISTRATION"
    • Fill in the personal details requested by NBG so as to verify that you are the authorized cardholder.
    • Create your card’s Password and your Personal Greeting, a message that serves as confirmation that you are communicating with NBG. Alternatively, you can sign up to the service via an online certified store when you make your first online purchase. The Verified by Visa screen will appear automatically. Enter your personal details as requested and then create your card’s Password and Personal Greeting, following the relevant instructions.

  • How you will carry out transactions
    Once you've successfully registered your card, its number will be automatically recognized every time you use it at participating online stores. The Verified by Visa screen will appear and NBG will request your card’s Password. When you enter the Password correctly, you confirm that you are the certified cardholder and only then will your purchase be completed.

 

Debit Cards
 

 

  • How the service works for your Debit Card
    The Debit Visa card participates in NBG's upgraded Verified by Visa service, which works by entering, for every transaction, the one time password (OTP), which you will receive by SMS on your mobile phone or via email.The service is provided automatically for Debit Visa cardholders without any registration required on your part.

  • How you will carry out transactions
    In order to carry out a transaction at a certified online store with Debit Visa using the upgraded Verified by Visa service, just follow a few simple steps:
    • Enter your card details in the corresponding field.
    • Confirm the details of the transaction (amount, date etc.)
    • Select how you want to receive  the OTP (via mobile phone or email).
    • Enter the OTP on the following screen.
